WHAT I DID
Work: Opening Title Sequence

Telegraph Club is based on the book Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo.
For this project I wanted to pull from the LGBTQ+ experience in San Fransisco during the 1950s. The song featured, Don’t You Want a Man Like Me by Billy Wright, is performed by a queer artist of the time. All the clips come from San Fransisco archives spanning from the 1950-1960s. The typefaces chosen are also reflective of popular signage during this time.
The book is a coming of age novel that explores some of the double lives lived in the queer community. I wanted to highlight this through the use of mirroring and repetitive imagery.
